DESIGN PART 1: Making sure your IDEA reads clearly

Online class dates & time:  October 5,12,19 2024 at 10am-12pm 

Creating a painting that reads clearly can be a daunting task. In this three week class, Christopher will introduce you to the concepts which have helped evolve his own painting. We will look at the role of values and contrast to create and express our ideas clearly through studies. We will then look at how we can work from these studies to create a finnished painting. 

Materials: For this class you may use value markers, black and white paint, and/or pencils 

Class content: 

• Introduction on value patterns and value scale
  
• Learn how the intensity of light is determined by values
• Demos to help visualize the concepts
  
• A homework assignment will be given weekly to help practice new concepts
  
• There will be time for personal feedback and review of work and assignments
• Opportunity for you to ask questions

Class legnth:  1.5 to 2 hours long, small calsses for personal attention.

MISSION: This interactive ART SCHOOL was created to help aspiring artists to further their knowledge of key concepts in art. There may be many options for online art instruction, but we saw a need to create an option that gives students clear instruction, individual attention, guidance, mentorship, and an encouraging community along the journey of learning regardless of painting medium. We want to help guide students by creating helpful design and painting habits that will assist them in reaching their artistic goals. We have found great encouragement from our mentors and creative community and want to continue to pass that culture on through the interactive online meetings.
